Getting off to a bit of a rocky start! We're signed up for a Rick Steves tour to the Adriatic - Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
After such a long flight, we like to maximize our time in Europe, so we tried to add another tour. First choice was a cruise on the Danube from Budapest to Prague. After several tries for sold out tours, our travel agent found one cabin available - below waterline! No thanks. Then we thought we'd try for a 2nd RS tour from Prague to Budapest. This one started in Berlin, where we've already been, but we signed up anyway. Apparently, over the weekend, several more people had the same brainstorm. We didn't make it. We were put on the wait list. But we have to buy airline tickets soon. The flights are filling up! I guess Americans are traveling again.
So, plan B (C? D? feels like Q!). After the Adriatic tour, we will fly to Vienna and take the next couple of weeks to just be on our own. We'll probably go up to Prague as well, and maybe even Budapest. That will be more relaxing than another tour anyway. The whole idea of the cruise was to get on the boat and not have to schlep our luggage again for a week. So we're going to try for an apartment and be Viennese for awhile.
